Businesses Capture Community Awards

The support and volunteer efforts of a number of individuals, groups and businesses who assist A Safe Place/ Lake County Crisis Center in its mission to eliminate domestic violence were recognized at the Annual Meeting of the agency October 29 at the Marriott Lincolnshire Resort.

Abbott Laboratories Engineering employees received the Corporate Employee Volunteers of the year. The Engineering employees provided consulting as well as collaboration with service contractors to reconfigure its heating and cooling systems this year.


The Small Business Award was presented to First Step Ahead, a division of Chelsea and Scott of Lake Bluff, for their ongoing support of A Safe Place through donations of new children’s clothing, bedding and safety equipment for the shelter residents. A Safe Place provides shelter and counseling to more than 225 children each year.
