A Safe Place Honors Volunteers

Andrea Rosengarden of Highland Park was honored as Volunteer of the Year at the Annual Meeting of A Safe Place/ Lake County Crisis Center October 29.

Rosengarden, a trained volunteer in the agency’s court advocacy program, has devoted several hundred hours of service this year to the nonprofit agency that provides comprehensive services to battered women and their children.

Meritorious service awards were given to three additional volunteers who work in direct client service. Mary Freeman of Highland Park received recognition for her work as a court advocate; and Rhonda King for her work as a crisis line volunteer last year.

A special meritorious volunteer award was presented to Diane Cairo Bockwinkle of Gurnee and her family, who were honored for the many years they have sponsored a special Valentine party for the children and their mothers at A Safe Place.
