A Safe Place Reports Director ElectionsElections to the Board of Directors were held and new officers named at the Annual Meeting of A Safe Place/ Lake County Crisis Center Monday, October 18, 2004, at the Marriott Lincolnshire Resort.
Newly-elected board members include Brad Black, Vice President of Finance, Food Service Professionals; Donna Sickler, Manager of Financial Reporting, Cardinal Health, Inc.; and Karen Vaughn, Human Resources Director, Kraft Foods.
Elected to their second term on the nonprofit board were Laura Bokhof, Human Resources, Takeda Pharmaceuticals; Robert Boyle, Vice President, Billing Services, Zurich North America; Laura Werner, owner and President, Integrated Systems Management.
Beginning their third terms on the board of directors are Byron Prais, President, Byron J. Prais & Associates; Darryl Cheeks, President and CEO, The Chicagoland Companies, and Beth Ragsdale, Vice President/ Cash Management, First Midwest Bank.
Officers chosen for the 2004-05 fiscal year are Joan M. Gilmore, Director, Allstate Insurance Cos., President; Darryl Cheeks, Vice President; Mary Stanton, Chief of the Misdemeanor Division, Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office, Vice President; Mark Leopold, Deputy General Counsel, Household International, Treasurer; and Peter Esteve, Human Resources Director, Abbott Laboratories, Secretary.
Members completing their terms of service on the board were Frank Loughery, Abbott Laboratories; and Linda McCulloch, Village of Bannockburn.
Other members of A Safe Place’s Board of Directors include Lois J. Ford, Abbott Laboratories; Joanne Esplin, Citi Net Travel, Inc.; Robbie Ford, Abbott Laboratories, Kathryn Keenan, BenchStrength; Mary Penich, Lake County Regional Office of Education; Betty Toser, Community Volunteer; and Lauren Turelli, Baird & Warner Real Estate.
A Safe Place/ Lake County Crisis Center provides comprehensive services to victims of domestic violence and their children, including a 24-hour HELP LINE; temporary/emergency shelter; individual and group counseling; children’s counseling, nonresidential counseling and support groups, court advocacy; non-legal advocacy and case management. Community services include abuser assessment and group services; community education, professional training and prevention education.
