Makeovers for ChangeVisit the Body Shop at Hawthorn Center September 24The Body Shop at Hawthorn Center in Vernon Hills is offering full and mini makeovers on Sunday, September 24, in return for donations that will support A Safe Place/ Lake County Crisis Center, the nonprofit agency providing comprehensive services for domestic violence victims in Lake County. A Body Shop spokesperson explains that the retailer is sponsoring the effort to help break the cycle of family violence for the child witnesses who often suffer severe and long-term effects from exposure to violence in the home. More than 250 new products are being unveiled for use in the makeovers. Appointments may be booked by phoning 847.327.9120. A Safe Place/ Lake County Crisis Center annually provides 13,000 nights of shelter to battered women and their children. The agency offers individual and group counseling, as well as a comprehensive children’s counseling program, in addition to court advocacy and case management. Education and training programs annually reach thousands of area civic and faith community groups, professionals in fields such as health care, law enforcement, and education, and school age children who attend prevention education programs, learning about healthy relationships and tools to recognize and avoid abuse in dating relationships.
