A Safe Place Announces Weekend Hours in Bond Court

Effective immediately, A Safe Place court advocates and trained volunteers will be available during weekend bond court hours to assist victims of domestic violence in their preparation of petitions for orders of protection.

Assistance is available on Saturday mornings from 8:30 a.m. until noon when bond court is in session. A Safe Place’s bilingual, bicultural court advocate is present during these hours every other Saturday to offer help to Spanish-speaking petitioners. A Safe Place has operated A Safe Room in the Lake County Courthouse since 1994 and is presently located in D100. The nonprofit agency assists victims of domestic violence in filing for nearly 2,000 orders of protection each year. In addition to a senior court advocate and a bilingual, bicultural court advocate, eighteen trained volunteers donate hours during the week and now during weekend bond court to assist survivors through the paperwork necessary to obtain emergency and plenary orders.

Anyone with questions may phone A Safe Room at
847-360-6471.
