A Safe Place Offers Area Support Groups For Battered Women

A Safe Place support groups for women who are dealing with abuse in their homes meet weekly in confidential locations throughout Lake County.  No fees are charged. Currently, groups meet in the evening from 7:00 to 8:30 in Deerfield on Tuesdays; in Round Lake on Wednesdays; and in Vernon Hills on Thursdays. A Spanish-speaking support group also meets on Thursdays in Waukegan. Individual counseling sessions for battered women can also be scheduled at A Safe Place’s counseling offices in Lake Villa, Waukegan, or Zion.   Children’s services are also available at no charge.   For more information, call A Safe Place’s 24-hour help line at 847-249-4450; TTY 847-249-6557; 800-600-SAFE.
